Weight Calculator for Life Insurance
This article has a sample weight calculator for life insurance to give you an
idea of which rate class you might fall in.
When you apply for life
insurance, the majority of life insurance companies will ask you for
your height and weight, among other things. The reason they do this is because statistics show that being
overweight is also associated with or eventually leads to other health conditions such as high blood pressure,
diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, sleep
apnea, stroke, and more.
Your height and weight is used to determine your Body Mass Index, or BMI. All life
insurance companies have their own underwriting standards, but here is a sample of how an insurance company might rate
you- Preferred or Standard. Keep in mind that many other
variables are involved in determining your rate class besides height and weight.
